She is the owner of notsoplainJane, and during her process of building and learning about the off-road world, her vision for Off-Road Syndicate was born. Her belief is that together as a whole, we can make this world a better place than we found it.
Creating a safe place for people to learn and grow is one of Julia's driving passions.
Co-Owner
Justin’s years of service in the military prepared him for this very endeavor. He leads quietly (most of the time) and tactfully. Justin has a technical knowledge and skill that is vast from his years of mechanical and aerospace engineering background. His mindset of being willing to research and learn everything he needs to know about a subject is the strength and determination that has been our ability to succeed as we grown from the ground up! Justin loves to lead and assist new off-roaders in their learning process. His patient, even temperament makes him an incredible teacher.
We are proud to be a Veteran owned organization because of Justin!
Operations Director
Tabitha is a leader in all areas to ensure that Off-Road Syndicate is functioning at its best. Her impeccable ability to be Julia’s chaos coordinator is her greatest super power! Tabitha assists in managing merchandise, website construction, and so much of the behind the scenes work that is done on a daily basis. Her passion for the off-roading community and selfless giving to others makes her a invaluable asset to the organization. She is truly passionate about the work she does and gives it her 100% effort!
About the Founders
Justin and Julia Robertson have always had a great passion for the outdoors from hiking in the Wichita Mountains, skydiving, restoring go-fast boats and other watercraft to enjoy the lake. Justin and Julia have 3 children from ages 10-21 years old. Justin is a proud Veteran, serving 10+ years in the Air Force. Following Justin military career, he pursued his helicopter instructor pilot license. When Justin in not working on fighter jets at Sheppard AFB, he is rebuilding jeeps in his garage. Julia has spent 25 years in the medical field. For the last 4 years Julia has worked as an IT analyst supporting major health care systems. When Julia is not working for the hospital it’s all about the kids and Jeeps.
Justin and I have not been in the off-roading community for very long. Ever since I was a child, I always dreamed of owning a jeep. I knew exactly what I wanted (or I thought), but it was a process to get there! Some days it is unclear if I love the process of re-building or off-roading more. The joke is that I break it to upgrade it, but the truth is that I honestly find solace just getting to spend time with Justin working on “Jane” and learning new skills. It was a struggle in the beginning because there was not support that we found locally, everything was in the Dallas area. It did not take me very long to see that we had a huge culture difference in the off-roading world in my hometown. It just didn’t make sense to me, to see Jeep owners and big lifted 4x4’s everywhere yet it almost felt like they were hiding from one another. We would attend fundraisers and be the only jeep. As I met owners individually, they would tell me the same thing that I kept vocalizing “There must be more, where is everyone?” or my favorite is “I have a jeep but IT”S JUST A…. because I am scared to take it out because I don’t know what to do if something happens”, or “I would love to go off-roading, but I don’t know anyone or have anyone to go with”. I couldn’t tell you how many times I sat in frustration saying those very same things, so it was time for change!
The vision was born; I wanted to do as much differently as I possibly could to change the things I had seen and not liked. I struggled and fought with the idea for many months. No matter what I did it was heavy on my heart that our community deserved so much more! I am the first to say I have so much to learn myself, but I am willing to be taught and learn. I feel like we all deserve to have a place where there is a network of people who share the same passion in our local community, and beyond. A common place of people who are driven and support one another through imparting their knowledge in a constructive way. Where teaching and helping others how to begin their off-road journey in a manner that sets them up to be successful, as well as sets an example of kindness and inclusion is prioritized. It is so important that the network that is structured on concrete and built through solid relationships, woven like a family created through giving and participating in community service events, supporting each other’s hobby endeavors, and openly promoting for each other. Lastly, I believe all of us thrive when we advertise for one another, I support you, and you support me because we are a community.
Our name means something because it was chosen with the same passion that this network is built with, Justin was extremely purposeful in the creation of the logo designs. All aspects have a purpose and the same vision in mind, that is where we get our saying SYND IT.
syn·di·cate a group of individuals or organizations combined to promote some common interest.
So, we are Off-Road Syndicate Network. Yes, I know this was supposed to be about me, but it was… this is who I am. I believe that that we can enact a positive change by being the change.
